Spanish student coming to Parry Sound High looking for a family to stay with

A local woman is asking for help in finding housing for an international student coming to Parry Sound.

Lynda Marshall works for a company called Muskoka Language International. It works with educational agencies around the world to place students in Canadian schools.

Marshall is looking for a family willing to take in a 16-year-old boy named Carlos who’s from Spain. He’s going into Grade 11 and is one of just 500 students who were picked from a field of 10,000 to get a scholarship to study in Canada for a year. Marshall says his English skills are very good and that he’s an excellent student.

He needs a family to stay with from August 30th to the end of the school year next June. Marshall says it’s ideal, but not essential, for the homestay family to also have children attending Parry Sound High School.

Homestay families are compensated on a monthly basis for lodging and meals and the students arrived ready to cover all of their own personal costs. A family within a 45 minute bus ride to and from PSHS would be acceptable.

If you’re willing, or know any family that is willing, to take in a student for the year you’re asked to get in touch with Lynda Marshall by calling 705-746-1865 or emailing her at [email protected].
