Provincial funding helps McDougall renovate community halls in Nobel, Waubamik

Renovations are continuing on Waubamik Community Hall.

Officials say the project will include washroom upgrades, the installation of a new ramp and sliding doors and replacement of exterior siding.

The project was made possible thanks to $54,000 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation. An additional $148,000 was also provided to convert an older church in Nobel into another community hall.

The OTT Financial Group contributed an additional $50,000 towards the projects.

Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Graydon Smith was on hand for the official opening of the renovated community hall in Nobel on April 30.

“Community halls like the one in Nobel and the one in Waubamik are so important in providing residents with a sense of connectedness,” said Smith. “I’m glad to see the public and private support through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation and OTT Financial Inc. That went into this project to make it a reality.”
