A 57-year-old Sundridge man is facing arson and assault charges.
According to Almaguin Highlands OPP, emergency services responded to a house fire on John Street shortly after midnight Monday.
Officials say the occupant had lit their house on fire and barricaded themself inside. They add the man was armed with a knife when police entered the building, but was “arrested safely” and taken to hospital for assessment.
The accused is being charged with two counts of arson and three of assault. He was held for a bail hearing in Parry Sound.
