The Township of The Archipelago has donated a piece of equipment to our local OPP detachment.
Staff Sergeant Jeremy McDonald, Commander of the OPP’s West Parry Sound Detachment was presented with the Remote Area Lighting System (RALS) during the Township’s council meeting on Friday.
According to council, the need for a lighting system was identified following a snowmobile accident and subsequent investigation that occurred in the Archipelago during the winter months.
Officials say the RALS will prove invaluable for aiding in investigations, search operations, and responding to medical calls for service in waterborne or remote locations.
In addition, officials say the portability of the device ensures it can be easily transported. During the meeting, Council also reaffirmed its commitment to assisting the OPP in their ongoing service in the region.
