Busy Weekend On The Waters For West Parry Sound OPP

It was a very busy weekend on the waters for West Parry Sound OPP.

On Saturday, members of the Marine Unit, along with the Ministry of Natural Resources Marine Unit were patrolling Whitestone Lake in Whitestone Township.

Around 7 p.m., officers conducted a vessel check and after speaking with the operator, determined that alcohol had been consumed.

That individual was arrested and transported to the local detachment for more testing.

As a result, police charged a 52-year-old man from Whitestone Township with operation while impaired and having liquor in an open container.

Then on Sunday, police were patrolling the Woods Bay area in Archipelago Township.

Around 8 p.m., they conducted a vessel check and after speaking with the operator – again concluded alcohol had been consumed.

That individual was arrested and taken to the local detachment and he is facing charges including operation while impaired and having an open container of liquor.

Both are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on August 20.

Meanwhile, the West Parry Sound OPP Marine Unit add from July 3-5, they issued six 3-day licence suspensions and four Liquor License Act offences.
