Packed house for Seguin council inauguration

A crowd of constituents and supporters showed up for the Seguin Township council inauguration.

It happened last night at Rosseau Memorial Hall. The crowd listened in silence as Mayor Ann MacDiarmid was sworn in. The mayor appeared elated as she stepped off the stage to celebrate with constituents.

“It’s very gratifying and it’s humbling to be mayor but it’s also really impressive to see all the people here tonight whose doors I knocked on and who were supporters of mine. We’ve got our work cut out for us,” MacDiarmid said.

“The very first order of business to is to appoint members of council to the external boards. The district social services board, park to park, so that will be the first motion at our next meeting on the 10th. I also want to get to know the staff and find out how we can best support those staff. I’ve already been meeting with the department heads and will continue to do that. I want to go out with the snow plow driver and the garbage pick-up guys. I want to be accessible. I will be having regular office hours in the township office that will be for constituents to stop in but also for staff to come and talk to me anytime they want,” she adds.
