Heat lightning explained from Environment Canada

A certain type of lightning lit up the sky over the weekend.  Flashes of heat lightning have happened in Parry Sound-Muskoka overnight on Saturday.  Environment Canada Meteorologist Geoff Coulson explains how these lightning flashes happen.

Environment Canada is discovering different types of heat lightning caused by other storms in the area and Coulson explains how.

He says you will only see lightning but you won t hear thunder.


Coulson also noted that heat warning is not caused by the humidity. It s simply caused by storms.
