The 21st annual Driving for Diagnostics golf tournament, held on Sept. 13, raised more than $68,000 for the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation.
That’s according to Foundation officials, who say 36 teams and 144 golfers participated in the event.
Proceeds from the tournament will help fund investments in surgical equipment and technology at the West Parry Sound Health Centre.
“We are humbled and honoured by the remarkable support for this year’s Driving for Diagnostics,” said Foundation CEO Deborah Loosemore. “Every golfer, sponsor, and volunteer played a role in strengthening advanced health care for everyone who lives, works, cottages and camps in the West Parry Sound region. Thank you.”
Officials say the hospital is on the verge of finishing a complete floor-to-ceiling makeover of the hospital’s surgical suites, which includes three operating rooms, the scope room, and the medical device reprocessing department. Foundation officials are also working to raise $1.4 million dollars to fund equipment purchases to support a new urologist, ophthalmologist, orthopedic surgeon and new breast cancer procedure at the hospital.
