Parry Sound High School portables expected to be open by Oct. 16

Grade 7 and 8 students at the new Parry Sound High School are expected to be back in the portables by Oct. 16.

That’s according to an update from Near North District School Board CEO Jay MacJanet posted online Oct. 7.

“We’re getting close,” said MacJanet. “The major construction work on the six affected hex pods is now complete, including the flooring, insulation and exterior work. The remaining steps are focused on getting the spaces fully ready for students and staff, including cleaning, moving furniture and equipment and completing the technology set-up.”

According to McJanet, the new elementary school playground is also taking shape, with installation underway.

The track is also available for use, with temporarily lines expected to be added the week of Oct. 13. However, the field will need another week or so for the grass to knit before it can be used. Full completion of the track remains on schedule for the spring.

More updates will be provided as work progresses.
