Parry Sound Grade 7,8 students to return to hex pods Oct. 19

Local Grade 7 and 8 students will return to the hex pods at the new Parry Sound High School on Oct. 19.

That’s according to Near North School Board CEO Jay MacJanet, who released an update on the school project Oct. 14.

He says major repairs to the portables have been completed, and crews are working on getting classrooms ready for staff and students.

The Joseph Street parking lot has also been completed. According to MacJanet, site work will now focus on transforming the Isabella Street parking lot into an elementary school yard. Field work and the installation of permanent fencing around the year are planned over the coming weeks, with timelines dependent on weather.

The new elementary playground is also nearing completion. Equipment has been installed, and landscaping work is expected to be completed in the coming days.
