OPP charge four with stunt driving during Highway 69 initiative

Four drivers are facing stunt driving charges after being caught travelling at excessive speeds on Highway 69 ahead of the Thanksgiving long weekend.

North East Region OPP officers conducted focused radar and LIDAR speed enforcement, along with members of the North Bay and Sudbury Highway Safety Divisions.

Police say the initiative resulted in 56 charges, including four for stunt driving. According to police, speeds associated with the stunt driving charges were 144, 148 and 149 km/hr in 90 km/hr zones.

Beyond the charges, the police say increased visibility along Highway 69 plays an important role in encouraging drivers to slow down.
