The West Parry Sound Health Centre is once again in gridlock, due to higher than normal patient volumes.
A ‘gridlock’ means all inpatient beds at the hospital are full, preventing emergency department patients from being moved to a bed, leading to overcrowding and delays.
The hospital enacted its gridlock policy shortly after 7 a.m. on Aug. 20.
Officials say patients may be cared for in overflow areas including staying in the Emergency Department, or moving into the Ambulatory Care Department, or Family Waiting Rooms.
Wait times may be longer than usual. Current estimated wait times can be found on the hospital’s online tracker at wpshc.com.
