Heat warning issued for Parry Sound region as humidex values hit 40

It’s a hot start to the summer in the Parry Sound region.

A heat warning has been issued for the area, as daytime temperatures are forecast to hover around 30 degrees, with humidex values near 40, through July 6. There won’t be much relief from the heat either, with the evening and nighttime temperatures not expected to sit in the mid to low 20s.

Officials are reminding you to protect yourself and others as extreme heat can increase the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, especially among youth, the elderly and those with chronic conditions.

Residents to stay hydrated and watch for signs of heat-related illness, including headaches, exhaustion, nausea, and rapid, shallow breathing.

Anyone experiencing severe symptoms should remove themselves from the heat immediately and call 911.
