Parry Sound awards over $96,000 in grants through facade improvement program

Nine local businesses are receiving a combined $96,750 through the Town of Parry Sound’s facade improvement program.

The program provides 50/50 cost sharing up to $25,000 to help with primary and secondary building facade improvements, outdoor signage improvements, landscape improvements and more. Town staff say a total of $457,257 worth of work will be done on the nine businesses.

Council approved the grants during a meeting on May 19.

“I would just like to express my gratitude for all of the businesses that have been stepping up, and to the staff and the committee that oversees it,” said Deputy Mayor Chris McDonald. “To go from two applications in 2023 to over 20 this year, with nine going forward, is increasingly making the storefronts and buildings in and around the downtown look better.”

Grants will be provided to the following businesses:

  • Dunn’s Storage – 15 William Street ($4,000)
  • DiSalvos Restaurant – 105 James Street ($20,000)
  • Fizzy’s Butter Chicken – 36 James Street ($17,750)
  • A La Mode – 98 James Street ($2,000)
  • Parry Sound Dental – 73 Bowes Street ($3,000)
  • Uptown Decor and Finishes – 77 Bowes Street ($4,000)
  • Georgian Bay Software – 42 Gibson Street ($20,000)
  • Hope Pregnancy Centre – 111 James Street ($20,000)
  • I Branched Out – 44 James Street ($6,000)
