Parry Sound Fire Department actively recruiting volunteer firefighters

The Parry Sound Fire Department is in the midst of a recruitment drive.

Training Officer Austin Benson said the service is currently looking for four to six new recruits to join the local department. No experience is required. All you need is to be 18 years of age, have a valid drivers license and good work ethic.

“Interested applicants gotta have a drive to help out in the community, be willing to work hard and have the availability and time to commit to the process,” sand Benson.

According to Benson, being a volunteer firefighter can be quite time consuming. The training program is approximately 120 hours, there are regular monthly training sessions, and emergency response.

For those interested, the deadline to apply is Oct. 10. More details can be found at parrysound.ca.
