Ministry committed to improving Highway 559

The Ministry of Transportation remains committed to the planned rehabilitation of Highway 559.

In a letter to the Township of Carling, MTO officials reiterated their plan to improve the highway, including replacing the centerline culvert, adding paved shoulders and a new layer of asphalt.

Officials say construction crews are on-site repairing potholes to address immediate safety concerns, and they anticipate having a contractor begin roadwork this fall.

The Ministry is also planning additional surface work on Dillon Road and several sections of Carling Bay Road East. That work is expected to begin in June.
