ServiceOntario opening up mobile stations across region

Five communities and Moose Deer Point First Nation will be closer to some government services thanks to the new ServiceOntario mobile service centres.

Todd McCarthy, Ontario’s Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery, says the unit is already up and running in MacTier and Burk’s Falls.

“Our government is committed to closing service gaps and enhancing the customer experience for northern Ontarians,” he said Monday morning during an announcement at the ServiceOntairo branch in Huntsville.

He was joined by a handful of other politicians, including Mayor of Huntsville Nancy Alcock.

She explained Huntsville will be the “home base” for the unit when it’s not on the move. “We’re always eager to be a good neighbour,” she said.

McCarthy said the mobile unit will be available in Apsley, Denbigh, and Moose Deer Point First Nation by April.

Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Graydon Smith, who wasn’t able to attend the event in-person, said giving residents of small towns better access to service is a “top priority.”

“We are closing the gap in service delivery in Ontario’s smaller, more remote communities,” he said. “I am pleased mobile centres will be helping constituents across Parry Sound-Muskoka with important services, such as renewing health cards and driver’s licenses.”

Ontario’s website has details on how to book appointments with the mobile units.
