Seguin Township adopts site alteration, tree conservation bylaws

Seguin council is addressing concerns about shoreline development.

At the March 4 meeting, council approved two new bylaws which will create stricter regulations around blasting and tree conservation in Seguin Township.

A site alteration bylaw will introduce regulations around blasting within 20 metres of the shoreline. Blasting will only be permitted for foundations under existing dwellings and not allowed within 20 metres of the shoreline for any new builds.

A tree conservation bylaw will require developers to carefully navigate between existing mature trees to access the shoreline and only remove exempt vegetation.

Stricter regulations around walkways and patios near the shoreline have also been introduced.
