Parry Sound Minor Hockey marks first century in action with “100 years” centre-ice banner

You may notice there’s a new “100 years” centre-ice banner right under the Shamrock’s logo on the ice at the Bobby Orr Community Centre.

The banner, received and installed by town staff on Tuesday, marks the Parry Sound Minor Hockey Club’s 100th year in action.

Mike Kearns, the Town’s Director of Public Works, says the timing was excellent with the ice officially opening on Friday.

According to council, the Hockey Club agreed that the addition of the 100 year banner would be a great idea and also allow for more exposure and impact as the on-ice users as well as visitors to the facility would see it clearly.

Council says the logo, costing around $540 and covered by the town’s operating budget, did not add to the costs of installing ice as there are other logos on rotation that have become part of the installation process.
