Police Association’s Memorial Golf Tournament raises about $3,000 for Let’s Remember Adam Campaign

The local Ontario Provincial Police Association (OPPA) branch’s annual memorial golf tournament was a great success.

Constable Joe Scali, West Parry Sound OPP’s Media Officer and local OPPA branch President, says there are 18 branches of the association throughout the province representing all members of the Ontario Provincial Police uniform side.

He says the West Parry Sound, Almaguin Highlands and North Bay detachments all fall under 12 South Branch.

Scali says the event was held on Monday September 11 at the Osprey Golf and Country Club in Callander.

He says the event raises funds for a different campaign each year.

“We had a fundraiser for the campaign to Remember Adam, who was a 5-year-old student that got hit and killed by a driver passing a school bus,” he says.

Let’s Remember Adam campaign has been spreading Adam’s safety message since 2000 in an effort to make drivers stop for the school bus.

Scali says they were able to raise about $3,000. He says it was a great turnout with numerous businesses in Parry Sound supporting the cause with donations.
