Ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating Bobby Orr Community Centre upgrades set for Friday

Parry Sound is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate recent upgrades at the Bobby Orr Community Center.

The town says the event, kicking off 10 AM on Friday (Sept. 8), marks the addition of seven new HVAC Units to the community centre.

Officials say the units were bought using a $240,000 Community Building Fund Capital Stream grant provided by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

Parry Sound Mayor Jamie McGarvey says the impact of the grant cannot be overstated.

“This grant has allowed needed renovations to be made to better service our community. This funding made the purchase of the new units possible,” McGarvey says.

The town says the equipment upgrades, completed last month, will provide improved air quality throughout the Centre for years to come.

Parry Sound Muskoka MPP Graydon Smith says these upgrades will benefit many in the community as well as improve the overall health of the building.

The Community Centre is used by a variety of community organizations for sport, recreational activities, meetings, celebrations, conferences, and events.
