23 year old arrested after fleeing traffic stop, OPP investigating $45K in cash seized

A 23-year-old is facing charges after fleeing from police at a traffic stop about two weeks ago.

That’s according to the West Parry Sound OPP. Police say after officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Parry Sound Drive on Jan. 18, the car fled from police and was later stopped on Halls Quarry Road. 

According to OPP, officers also found over $45,000 in cash during the stop.

The 23-year-old Brampton man was charged with:

  • Flight from peace officer, contrary to Section 320.17 of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code, contrary to Section 320.18(1)(a) CC
  • Failure to comply with an undertaking, contrary to Section 124(4)(a) CC
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to Section 12(1) of the Cannabis Control Act 2017

The investigation is ongoing. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on Feb 16.
