NBPSD Health Unit’s Monday afternoon update

The local health unit says two individuals with COVID-19 from Parry Sound were admitted to the hospital over the weekend.

Both individuals are 60 to 79-years old, contracted the virus through community transmission and tested positive for the virus late last week.

The health unit added one recovery and no new cases in Parry Sound putting the District at four active cases.

Four recoveries and three new cases were reported in Nipissing placing that district at 26 active cases of COVID-19.

The health unit also reported the second hospitalization linked to an outbreak in North Bay this afternoon.

All three new cases are associate with either the Casellholme Outbreak or the Skyline Community Outbreak.

41 cases of COVID-19 have been identified in relation to the Skyline Community Outbreak in North Bay, 26 of which have had preliminary positive results for a variant.

The health unit reported the first death related to the outbreak last week, with 12 cases remaining active, 28 recovered and two in hospital.

As of Monday, 30 people in the North Bay Parry Sound District have had preliminary positive results for a variant of concern, two from Parry Sound and 28 from Nipissing.

The health unit’s latest data show 2,995 tests for COVID-19 were done over the weekend.
