A man has been arrested after he stole a road painting construction truck.

On Tuesday, around 10:30 p.m., members of the West Parry Sound OPP, along with an OPP Helicopter, Canine Unit and North East Region Emergency Response Team, located and arrested the man from Tay Township for the incident.

Police say they were called to Highway 400 near Highway 518 after highway construction crew observed an unknown person driving one of their road painting trucks.

The suspect eventually stopped and fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Police say they located the suspect hiding in a boat and arrested and charged the 27-year-old man with multiple offences.

The charges include theft of a motor vehicle, operation while impaired, trespassing at night and driving while under suspension.

He will be before a judge at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on July 23.
