Wednesday am – police search continues for individual who fled Police

West Parry Sound O.P.P. continues to request the public’s assistance this morning in locating an individual who fled on foot from Police on Monday evening.

Monday evening around 5:00 p.m., members of the local Detachment responded to a report of a vehicle traveling north on Highway 400 that had previously failed to stop for police. West Parry Sound OPP officers used a spike belt to stop the vehicle in the median of the 400 at Highway 559. Both of the occupants fled from the vehicle.

One individual was immediately arrested, the second fled into a wooded area. The OPP Central Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Aviation Services, Tactical K9 and OPP North East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) were called in to assist with a search of the area but were unable to locate the person.

The individual they seek is described by the O.P.P. as black, 6 feet tall, 18-20 years of age with a thin build weighing around 150 pounds. When last seen he was wearing a white t-shirt and black pants with Adidas written on them.

Anyone who might have information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.
