Haldimand County Man Arrested For Driving Impaired With G1 Licence

Almaguin Highlands OPP has arrested a man from Haldimand County for impaired driving.

Police say on Friday, around 8:50 p.m., officers were stationed at Highway 592 while they were conducting a traffic stop.

Investigation revealed that the driver had consumed alcohol over the legal limit and police subsequently arrested the 47-year-old and charged him with multiple offences.

The charges include operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of over 80, holding a G1 licence while unaccompanied by a qualified driver, driving a vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock device, being a novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero and operating a vehicle without insurance.

The accused has since been released from custody and will be before a judge at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge on August 27th.
