YMCA opening doors for Healthy Kids Day

It’s Healthy Kids Day at the Parry Sound YMCA this Sunday.

That means the facility will be opening its doors for a free community event aimed at helping families embrace healthy habits.

The YMCA says it will be focused on “fun and engaging activities, practical information and simple ways to be healthier in spirit, mind and body.”

That includes things like an open gym, family obstacle courses and healthy snack-making stations.

“Each day at the Y, we support parents by providing a nurturing environment that encourages children and youth to get active and make good decisions,” says Karen Pulla, Vice President of Health, Fitness and Aquatics, YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka. “On April 28th, we’re inviting parents and children of all ages to join us for a fun-filled day of activities where families can connect with others, learn about healthy habits and get the whole family active. It’s also a great opportunity to learn more about your local YMCA and what children’s programs are available now and in the coming summer months.”

Annually, YMCA Healthy Kids Day draws over 30,000 participants to events at over 100 YMCA locations across the country and includes activities that are accessible, free of charge and open to the public.
