Parry Sound council has passed the 2019 budget, and it comes with a 2.66 per cent tax increase.
Council unanimously approved the document at its April 16th meeting. A single-family home, assessed at $194,000 in 2019, will pay approximately $2,621.78 in municipal taxes. Assuming this same home was assessed at $193,000 in 2018, there will be an increase of $81.13 in municipal taxes.
“The 2019 Budget maintains services to the public while balancing various competing interests,” said Mayor Jamie McGarvey. “I am pleased that Council was able to fund a number of requests from the community in this year’s budget.”
The town’s tax-supported operating budget is $13.6 million. The net increase in taxation funding for 2019 is $398,915. This year’s capital budget is $5.7 million, with $12 million in approved projects carried forward from 2018.
