School board adopts trustee code of conduct

The Near North District School Board has adopted a code of conduct for trustees.

It establishes standards of conduct for individual trustees with respect to the conduct of their official duties. It also puts into place a way of dealing with complaints regarding violations of the new code.

“The Board has been very clear about their commitment to transparent, accountable and ethical governance. We as Trustees recognize that maintaining a high quality of public administration and governance can be achieved in part by encouraging high standards of conduct on the part of elected Trustees. The public is entitled to expect the highest standards of conduct from members that are elected to serve their local government and we are committed to meeting and exceeding that standard,”  says Jay Aspin, board chair.

All school boards are required to have a Trustee Code of Conduct in place by May 15, 2019. You can see the new code for yourself at the NNDSB website.
