Parry Sound youth invited to provincial conference focused on inclusivity

Parry Sound District youth are invited to be a part of a provincial movement to change the narrative of disabilities and inclusivity.

Community Living Parry Sound is working with Re:Action4Inclusion to recruit young people to their Youth Leadership Summit on March 29th and 30th in King City.

Re:Action4Inclusion is a movement led by a Youth Advisory Committee to change the national narrative of disabilities and to help communities embrace young adults as community leaders and stakeholders to empower youth.  The Youth Leadership Summit is designed so that youth can rally together to explore ways to take action individually and collectively to make schools and communities more inclusive spaces.

The goal of the summit is to have young people share their vision for the community and the province and to use their own experiences and those of your peers to inform the conversation of inclusivity.

“As a society, we’ve become very isolated and individualistic and I think our young people are the ones who have it the hardest. We’ve been working to really combat the challenges of feeling isolated. Especially for young people who have an intellectual disability, this is something that is very real. As a movement, we’re working to inform communities and help them to be thinking about young people and how they can be a part of building a community and including their vision in the work that our communities are doing. We’re really invested in building strong communities,” says Emily Branje, provincial Youth Partnership and Project Advisor with Community Living Ontario.

Those who are interested in attending the meeting should contact Emma Monk at Community Living in Parry Sound or register here.
