Parry Sound DBA holding its first formal election

A growing interest in the local Downtown Business Association has prompted an election.

“We had six existing directors who wanted to return and five new nominations for a total of eleven nominations out of nine spots on the board,” said Susan Hrycyna Executive Administrator of the Parry Sound DBA.

Business owners and commercial property owners within DBA boundaries are urged to participate in the election.

Hrycyna says she developed a formal policy for future elections with the help from the town clerk.

“This is one of the first times we’ve actually had an election and it’s exciting that so many people want to join our board. We must be doing something right,” Hrycyna said.

The election will be held for the 2019-2022 Council term on Monday, February 4th between 4:00pm and 8:00pm at the Gibson Street lobby of the Municipal Office at 52 Seguin St. This Election falls under the Municipal Act, Business Improvement Area Sections 204-215.

Hrycyna, in conjunction with the Town of Parry Sound Clerk’s Department, will oversee the election.
