OPP issue first impaired charges of 2019

The OPP has laid charges on the first impaired driver of the year and charged another impaired driver in a separate incident.

On January 2nd, shortly before 11:30pm, the West Parry Sound OPP responded to a car in the northbound ditch on Highway 400 in Seguin Township.  Police say that the driver had been drinking.

A 39-year-old man from London was arrested and charged with operation while impaired and drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available. The driver was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on January 31st.

In a separate incident on January 5th,  shortly after midnight, the West Parry Sound OPP responded to a report of an impaired driver on Highway 400 in McDougall Township. Police determined that the driver had been drinking and arrested its second impaired driver of 2019.

A 35-year-old woman from McDougall Township was charged with impaired driving and being a novice driver with a blood-alcohol level above zero. The driver was released and is scheduled to appear at court in Parry Sound on January 31st.

Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is asked to call the police by dialling 9-1-1 immediately.
