OPP update Festive R.I.D.E. stats

The West Parry Sound OPP has conducted 71 hours of Festive R.I.D.E. during this year’s annual campaign.

As of today, officers have issued two three-day suspensions from roadside tests, and 21 Highway Traffic Act charges including three seatbelt charges, four driving while suspended charges, two drive while disqualified charges, one Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charge, and five substance charges.

That’s one more three-day suspension and nine more Highway Traffic Act charges since the previous update last Wednesday.

The OPP says the Festive RIDE is one of its most important traffic safety initiatives. The OPP will continue the spot checks throughout the year. If you plan on drinking, plan to arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, or stay overnight.

The campaign started November 23rd and runs through to January 2nd.
