Tourism site adds Parry Sound “bucket-list” destinations

The Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve’s tourism site has added three new local destinations as places worth adding to your “bucket list”.

“Visit Amazing Places” is a website created by the GBBR to promote eco-tourism within the region.  It was first launched in 2014.

Emara Streich, Tourism Development Coordinator with the GBBR, says she is happy to add the Schoolhouse Trail, the Apiary, and Georgian Bay to the list of 20 local destinations.

At the Parry Sound and Area Community Apiary, the public can be outfitted with a beekeeper suit to get up close and personal with bees at work or sample fresh honey.

“The Schoolhouse Trail has a cedar bridge where you can get some of the best views of Georgian Bay including rock formations, wetland views and it’s a great spot to view wildlife,” Streich said. According to Streich, Georgian Bay was the most recent addition to the site.

Eight of the 20 spots are open in the winter including the Schoolhouse Trail, Rose Point Trail, Tower Hill lookout, Linx loop, the Waterfront Trail, Park-to-Park Trail and Muskoka Lakes Farm and Winery.
