Parry Sound 33 Declared “out”

The Parry Sound 33 Forest Fire has been declared “out” as of early this morning.

Fire Information Officer Isabelle Chenard told MyParrySoundNow.com that infrared detectors monitoring the ground for several weeks have not found any more heat coming from the location.

“It took a lot of man-hours and many fire rangers and firefighters from all over Canada and Mexico to put this fire out. It was challenging with the winds coming off of the Georgian Bay,” she said.

The blaze was discovered on July 18th though travel restrictions to the area were lifted approximately two weeks ago.  With Parry Sound 33 now out, the MNRF declared the end of the 2018 fire season today.

The investigation into the cause of Parry Sound 33 is still underway.
