The town of Parry Sound is actively seeking volunteer firefighters.
Fall is here and that means it is also the Parry Sound Fire Department’s recruitment season. Interested candidates can come into the local Fire Department to pick up an application and a booklet that details candidate requirements.
Once applications are received, the Fire Department hosts an open house for applicants and their families. Following that, candidates are required to pass a physical and aptitude test as well as a successful interview before being placed on a training schedule.
“It’s a physically demanding position so we want people who are physically fit and have an appetite for that type of activity. We want people who will physically attack jobs and who will enjoy that type of work,” said fire chief, Dave Thompson.
The Parry Sound fire department is calling all residents to participate including anyone with a varied technical background.
The deadline for applications is November 16th.
