Cooler temperatures and rain keeping fire risks down

The Fire Danger Rating for the Parry Sound area remains at moderate.  McDougall Fire Chief Brian Leduc says the consistent rain every few days and cooler temperatures has kept the risk of fires moderately low.  Leduc warns though that the extreme lightning we received on Tuesday evening has probably started some smoldering spots that may not have broken out yet into surface open flames.  If that has happened, it can take several days or even a week to appear and the Ministry of Natural Resources are conducting observation flights over the region to look for smoke.  A moderate Fire Danger Rating means no daytime burning is allowed, unless authorized by a permit from your local Fire Department with approved incinerators and camp fires allowed.
