It was the fourth annual Open Streets Parry Sound, where James Street in downtown is closed, allowing residents to walk, bike and roll freely in the area.

The Moose’s own Lindsay Godin was set up with our special events tent and says a lot of folks turned out.

“It was great to see people enjoying the street and the last bit of summer,” says Godin.

A number of local groups were on hand doing demonstrations and hoping to recruit new members.  The 295 MacPherson Air Cadets were there, along with Skating Parry Sound, Girl Scouts, the Parry Sound Fire Department, the OPP, the Parry Sound Public Library, Georgian Jumpers, One Kids Place, and more.

People were also able to enjoy a performance by the Ontario Provincial Police’s Golden Helmets Precision Motorcycle Team.

A few hundred folks were on hand to enjoy the show on James Street.

Twenty police officers from around the province performed a series of moves including figure eights, cutting back and forth in front of each other and intricate weaving maneuvers.

“It was really something to see,” confirms Godin.
