Drunk and stunt drivers nabbed by West Parry Sound OPP

West Parry Sound OPP is on the hunt for drunk and aggressive drivers in the district.

On Sunday, police charged two drivers in separate incidents.

Early that morning, officers were tipped off to a possible impaired driver who had been at a drive-thru on Bowes Street. Police stopped the suspected drunk driver a short time later and reportedly discovered illegal drugs in the car as well.

A 32-year-old North Bay man was charged with impaired driving and possession of marijuana and cocaine. He’ll appear in court in Parry Sound on October 4th.

On Sunday night, police spotted a driver speeding along Highway 69 near Archipelago Township. Officers pulled over the offender and a 47-year-old man from Timmins was charged with driving faster than 50km over the posted limit.

He will answer to his charges in court on September 18th. He could face a fine of up to $10,000 and up to six months in prison if convicted.

Both men had their vehicles impounded for a week and licences suspended for a month.
