Despite a report out of Toronto, Parry Sound is not being evacuated.
City TV’s Breakfast Television said yesterday the Parry Sound 33 forest fire is forcing people out of their homes. This is not the case.
Despite Parry Sound 33’s massive size, the fire is burning 75 kilometres north of the town itself and, at this point, presents no danger to the town at all. A change in wind direction did bring smoke, but not fire, to the town yesterday.
Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement took to Twitter to let people know that Breakfast Television’s report was erroneous. Breakfast Television has since removed the post, saying they “regret the mistake” and will clarify the story in the future.
