Gather ’round the campfire at local parks

While you will not be able to roast marshmallows at Algonquin Park or in your backyard, local parks continue to permit fires.

Killbear Provincial Park, Oastler Lake Provincial Park and Grundy Lake Provincial Park say there is a fire restriction prohibiting any burning between 10:00am and 7:00pm, but campfires are allowed outside of those hours. However, with hot and dry weather in the forecast Killbear staff are anticipating a full fire ban coming into effect.

Since last Thursday, The West Parry Sound District has been under an extreme fire danger rating and a fire ban, which means no open-air burning including campfires is allowed. However, approved and organized campgrounds can still choose to allow fires.
