A search for a missing boat turned out to have a happy ending.
The Southern Georgian Bay OPP’s Marine Patrol was dispatched Thursday evening after getting a report of an overdue vessel from Port McNicoll, its home port. The Coast Guard was called in to help because of the high winds and heavy rain at the time.
The team searched an area from Port McNicoll to Midland Point and over to Beausoleil Island. They found the missing vessel and its lone crew member safe and secure in Oak Bay just after 11:00pm that night.
The OPP and the Coast Guard is reminding boaters to always give their navigation plan to family members and to make sure all communication devices are working before heading out.
