Carling Township passes a firework by-law

To put on a fireworks show in Carling Township, a permit will now be required. Carling Fire Chief Gord Harrison says regulation is necessary especially when the fire danger rating is high.

Harrison says when Carling issued permits for burning debris there was a drastic reduction in wildfires. He says the by-law also acts as a reminder to follow the rules.

The fire danger rating in West Parry Sound is high, which means only campfires intended for cooking or warmth are allowed. To apply for a fireworks permit go to Carling Township’s website.
