The Town of Parry Sound is the latest municipality in West Parry Sound to support the SMART Community initiative in principle. Before last night’s meeting, the Municipality of McDougall, Seguin Township, and the Township of the Archipelago had all passed a resolution with some amendments. Dave Thompson gave a deputation to council last night to outline the work that has been done towards West Parry Sound becoming a SMART community and the next steps including setting up a not-for-profit.

Part of the resolution passed by council is to provide $6000 toward setting up the not-for-profit which will then be used to go out and get funding from Provincial and Federal governments to make the SMART community plan a reality.
