Man and woman face numerous charges after fleeing from police with cocaine

Local police had a hard time recovering $50,000 worth of cocaine.  West Parry Sound OPP was patrolling in Seguin Township just after midnight Tuesday morning when they stopped a vehicle on Roberts Lake Road for a traffic violation.  The driver’s licence was found to be suspended so police arrested the man and searched the vehicle to find a kilogram of suspected cocaine.  The man then became aggressive damaging the cop car and while officers tried to subdue the man, the female passenger grabbed the suspected drugs and drove away.  Police began a pursuit and when the woman wouldn’t pull over, a spike belt was deployed and the vehicle came to a safe stop.  Below is the complete list of charges

The 31-year-old man from Loyalist Township is charged with the following:

  • Imitation firearm – use while committing offence
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Assault peace officer
  • Traffic in schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Drive while under suspension

The 30-year-old from Thunder Bay is charged with:

  • Adult Flight while pursuant by Peace Officer
  • Dangerous operation of Motor Vehicle
  • Traffic in schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purposes of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Imitation firearm – use while committing offence
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Escape lawful custody
