Shawanaga Council considering transit service for First Nation members

Shawanaga First Nation wants to help mobilize its members.

The council is considering a new transit service that would cost about $60,000 annually and charge about five dollars per trip. Officials say the bus for the transit service would also cost about $40,000.

The transit service could run to the Henvey Inlet Wind project site and into Parry Sound to help members run errands or get to other jobs. Officials are proposing a schedule with morning and afternoon trips. The council is looking for local member input on this proposed transit.
