February 22nd marks Ontario’s first Human Trafficking Awareness Day

Ending human exploitation is the goal as Ontario marks its first Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

Recognized every February 22th, the day hopes to shed light on the effects of the illegal trade that lures and recruits young people for the purpose of sexual exploitation or forced labour.

Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller says it’s easy to think that we’re sheltered from such activity by living in a small town.

The Ontario Provincial Police is reporting more and more victims are being lured from small towns with promises of love and a better life.
