UPDATE: CARRILION COLLAPSE WON’T AFFECT PARRY SOUND AREA HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE

UPDATE Friday January 19:  An agreement has been reached between Carillion Canada and the Ministry of Transportation ensuring the plowing and maintenance of Highways 11 and 400 in the Parry Sound region for the rest of the winter by the company.

Snow plowing in the Parry Sound region isn’t going to be disrupted following the collapse of Carillion PLC.

The U.K. based construction company announced yesterday it had no choice but to go into liquidation after it couldn’t secure funding to keep operations running.

Carillion Canada holds eight maintenance projects across Ontario, including one in the Parry Sound region which covers parts of Highway 400 and 11.

The Ministry of Transportation says the company has assured the province winter maintenance services will continue uninterrupted at this time.

However, the MTO says it is going to look at all of its options in case that situation changes. The government is planning to meet with Carillion Canada throughout the week and says it will provide updates as they become available.
