OPP AND AREA EMS USE SNOWMOBILES TO RESCUE AILING HENVEY MAN FROM KEY RIVER COTTAGE

A Henvey Township cottager is recovering after an icy rescue by emergency crews.

West Parry Sound OPP was called by Greater Sudbury EMS on Saturday, January 13th at 10:40 pm to help transport an ailing man from his cottage on the Key River to a waiting ambulance.

With no other way to access the cottage, OPP officers along with Britt and Area Fire and Rescue used snowmobiles and a rescue sleigh to get to the man.

On the way back to the ambulance, the snowmobile with the sleigh in tow became stuck in ice and forced back to shore.

A second snowmobile came for the cottager who along with an OPP officer, was transported to hospital.

The officer was examined and released.
