Anishnabek Police are investigating possible human remains found on Christian Island. Officers were called Wednesday afternoon and made aware of a discovery of what looked like human remains in the area of Big Sand Bay. Southern Georgian Bay OPP, the Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Services, the K-9 unit, and the Emergency Response unit were all called to assist in the discovery. A search of the area found remains and other items that have been taken for further examination at the Centre for Forensic Sciences in Toronto to determine their origin, identity, and possible cause of death. The investigation is continuing and updates will be provided as they become available.
